Scheduling for live performances in 2021 has been affected by the Corona Virus Pandemic, and much of our programming has been modified. We value the safety of our Ensemble and our patrons, and we will, therefore, be operating within guidelines set by the government and the CDC. We are continually monitoring this world crisis, and hope to be able to continue welcoming you to live performances.
The Doansburg Chamber Ensemble is comprised of accomplished musicians who, along with several guest artists, annually present a concert series of outstanding musicianship in a charming, rural church setting. Doansburg is an old place name tied to the community of Doansburg in the Town of Southeast, Putnam County, New York. The place name was taken from the Doan family, a prominent family at the time the Town was originally settled. The Ensemble took the name in recognition of the fact that their first performance in 1985 took place at the Old Southeast Church in what was once "Doansburg".
Ms. Smith, a professional flutist, is the founder and President of the Doansburg Chamber Ensemble. She is also the Artistic Director responsible for Ensemble programming. When she is not performing, she is a music educator and Conductor of the Putnam Symphony Orchestra. She is also an accomplished choral conductor and church organist.
Mr. Kayler has been with the Ensemble for over 20 years. He is responsible for communications and administrative functions.
